Words sometimes do not convey the beauty of the Phyllostachys Spectabillis bamboo. The contrast between the vivid yellow culms and the green stripe or sulci is more pronounced than with other bamboos. Zig zag aspect to lower culms occur that offer a further depth of interest and attraction with this bamboo. The transition from a young bushy plant can be extraordinarily quick and during a season of its own choosing it can produce vertical culms twice as thick and tall as it reaches maturity and can develop to make a respectable open grove without taking on monstrous proportions. A versatile, strong growing, highly decorative and essential bamboo. Particularly hardy and resistant to dry conditions suited for wind screens.
